Dice-K Game #6
Ouch.
The Dice-man is having some serious control problems as of late. It’s amazing he was able to recover from a one hit, five rune and three walk first inning but had another mini collapse in the fifth, prompting Dice-K himself to say,
“I definitely know I need to change something.”
Its strange how he reacts to certain situations. He can have innings where he breaks down and seemingly loses control, then can completely dominate the next.
Here are some situational stats:
Bases empty batting average: .221
Runners on base batting average: .271
ERA when retiring first batter: 3.00
ERA when leadoff batter reaches base: 11.45
74% of the runs he has allowed have occured in only 6 innings, his remaining runs (6 in total) having been spread over the span of 32 innings.
This type of inconsistency is at least consistent with alot of new pitchers struggling to find their best stuff amongst the pressure and skill of the major leagues. This kid still has the stuff, but is giving up one bad inning a game thats jacking up his stats. As he continues to settle in, he will calm down, and he will wind up gyro-fabulous.
Here are his Final Game Stats:
| Name | IP | H | ER | BB | GB | K |
